Professional career

Prof. Michael Schumacher, born in 1957, is an architect and, together with Till Schneider, owner and managing director of schneider+schumacher. Founded in 1989, the office became known with the red info box in Berlin. Since 2008, the office consists of various companies on the topics of architecture, urban planning, construction and project management, further building and computation & design with offices in Austria and China. After his studies of architecture at the University of Kaiserslautern and postgraduate studies in the class of Peter Cook at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main, Michael Schumacher worked as a freelancer for Sir Norman Foster, London. From 1999 to 2000 he was a visiting professor at the Städelschule, since 2007 he holds a professorship for design and construction at the Faculty of Architecture and Landscape, Leibniz University Hannover. From 2004 to 2009, Michael Schumacher was state chairman of the Association of German Architects (BDA Hessen). He is a member of the AIV and since 2018 has been appointed for 3 years as a member of the Commission for Design Quality of the DGNB.
