Academic career and education

Andreas Quednau received his diploma in architecture from the Technical University of Berlin and a Masters with honors in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University, Graduate School for Architecture Planning and Presevation in New York City. He taugt at the Technical University in Berlin (2005 to 2007 and 2008 to 2009), from 2007 to 2008 he was a substitute professor for public buildings, public spaces and urban design at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart, where he was between 2009 and  2015 full professor of public buildings, public spaces and urban design. In 2015 he was appointed to the university professorship for urban design at the Faculty of Architecture and Landscape at Leibniz Universität Hannover.

Professional career

Before Andreas Quednau and Sabine Müller founded SMAQ architecture | urbanism | research in Rotterdam in 2001, he worked with Diller Scofidio + Renfro (New York) and KCAP (Rotterdam). He has been based with his office SMAQ Architektur und Stadt in Berlin since 2005.
