Abstract

Competence in software devleopment and acquisition has become essential for the automotive industry. As a manufacturer of premium-class cars, DaimlerChrysler depends on high-quality software for its sophisticated electronic control units. DaimlerChrysler created its Software Experienc Center to investigate experience reuse and encourage experience-based software process improvement. This paper reports on the challenges the company faced when creating the SEC.
