Abstract
High viscous rubber compounds frequently show processing difficulties during calendering. The inefficient TACK behavior of the compound leads to premature detachment of the calendered sheet and causes wrinkling and blistering, trapping of air and geometric fluctuations in thickness and width. Through the development of a new type of calendering methodology it is possible to process high viscous rubber compounds into high-quality sheets with sheet height up to 2 mm. By using the tackifier combination investigated in Part 1 and 2 of this publication [1] [2], the conveying behavior of the compound into the feeding nip can be improved significantly and the highest possible line velocity can be increased considerably.
