Abstract
The time-domain atomic interferometry within a two-level system is reported where a variable number of partial waves takes part in the interference process. The interaction is nearly resonant with an internal atomic two-level system preparing a sequence of coherent de Broglie waves. The partial waves are labeled by a different center mass momentum and a different internal state, leading to a characteristic temporal phase evolution. The phase difference between two partial waves is due to the dark time between two laser pulses. The phase information stored in the atomic ensemble is read out by a second sequence of laser pulses.
