Abstract

Herein, we report the first synthesis of 10b-azachrysenes via the Hantzsch-like reaction of aldehydes with 2-(6,7-dimethoxy-3,4-dihydroisoquinolin-1-yl)acetonitrile and dimedone in the presence of acetic acid. The regioselectivity was established using X-ray crystallography and 2D-HMBC spectroscopy.
