Abstract
In order to measure the process forces during tool grinding, a sensory spindle is being developed at the Institute of Manufacturing Technology and Machine Tools (IFW) in Hanover. In cooperation with the grinding machine manufacturer VOLLMER WERKE Maschinenfabrik GmbH, online displacement compensation during tool grinding is being researched using the sensory spindle. This can minimise the setup effort of a support steady rest and thus increase the productivity of tool grinding.
