Abstract
Different production applications of exposed lightweight concrete are discussed. Exposed lightweight concrete enables execution of concrete buildings with stringent technological and visual requirements in terms of the visible surfaces, without the need of thermal insulation. The water balance of these aggregates determines the characteristics of the fresh concrete and directly influences the visual appearance. The special visual characteristics of lightweight concrete is due to the differences in the drying and hygric deformation behavior.
