Abstract

Alternating currents occur frequently in the usage of batteries. Batteries are almost always connected with power electronics circuits that induce current ripples and alternating currents are also used as measurement signals to parameterize simulation models, understand processes or for online state estimation. Here, both the application of alternating currents for measurement purposes and the influence of alternating currents on performance and aging are presented after an introduction of the occurring signals during the usage of batteries.
