Abstract
We study the guiding of a slow, continuous beam of metastable Ne* atoms in magnetic waveguides. The waveguides are formed by planar arrangements of current carrying wires. We demonstrate guiding of the atomic beam over a distance of 30 cm, guiding along curves as well as a simple beam splitting scheme. In addition we discuss guiding of slow atoms with a lithographically produced miniaturized waveguide of 2 cm length. This technology will allow for the realization of complex integrated set-ups in future applications.
