Abstract
The number of papers dealing with enzymatic reactions in non-conventional phases like organic solvents or supercritical CO2 has impressively increased over the last few years. However, most applications are still empirical and still fundamentals of technical engineering aspects for these reactions are missing. In order to improve knowledge on these new reaction systems, model enzyme reactions in aqueous and organic solvents were studied in a interdisciplinary cooperation. As model reaction the enzymatic hydrolysis and transesterification of different lipophilic substrates such as β-hydroxycarbonic esters or acids were chosen. In all tests reaction rate and enantioselectivity of these reactions were of interest. The effects of the solvent system and of the reaction process on these parameters were studied.
